Legality of 2nd to 4th wife in Islamic Marriage

It is a question that if you are not the 1st wife - are you still legally marriage to your husband? Is our marriage legal and acceptable to the state when am the 2nd wife?

We follow the steps in Islamic marriage.... parents blessings, and arrangement of marriage ceremony and contract of both parties. But am a 2nd wife? Is it considered legal?
